Victorian awnings for PizzaExpress, Blackheath

Morco have been manufacturing traditional Victorian awnings since 1956 and are now recognised as the leading installer of this type of traditional awning and these two awnings at PizzaExpress, Tranquil Vale, Blackheath  are typical of our work. Not only do these awnings meet the design style dictated by the original awning appearance, but the use of modern components, where appropriate, gives the product an enhanced integrity and greater life. The use of bespoke components, manufactured in house, right down to the last arm shoe and connector and period style slotted screws are just as they were in Victorian times. The awnings shown here at PizzaExpress have weighted valances which have been branded in the PizzaExpress style through the use of our unique RAGS® graphics process.

Founded in 1965 by Peter Boizot, PizzaExpress opened its first restaurant in London's Wardour Street. Inspired by a trip to Italy, Boizot brought back to London a pizza oven from Naples and a chef from Sicily. PizzaExpress specialises in handmade pizza. PizzaExpress introduced the lighter pizza Leggera, the first pizza range on the high street that contains around 500 calories.

Blackheath is a popular commercial and residential area of London but the Heath itself is used for many varied recreational pursuits. One of these is kite flying and there is a long history of kite flying on the heath. Growing popularity of the sport in recent years has attracted many kite flyers and kitebuggying has also appeared on the heath.
