Victorian awnings at The Joker

Victorian awnings for "The Joker"

30 Mar 2021

The Hardwood timbers we use to construct our Victorian awnings can clearly be seen in these images at the "Joker of Penton Street Pub" in Islington, London.  As always at Morco  the hardwoods used in our awning manufacture have all been sourced through Timber Merchants licensed under the strictest environmental  regulations and are finished with stains or paint which are all lead free and water based.  Metalwork is powder coated in our own plant to give a robust and long lasting finish. Morco awnings installations are carried out by our own  installers who have all been trained in accordance with our bespoke Training and Health and Safety  policies.

With a  quirky name like The Joker of Penton Street,  this Angel favourite firmly falls into the fun pub category. , drawing inspiration from Joseph Grimaldi; a 19th century Islington resident and creator of the modern-day clown as we know it. Nestled in the heart of Angel, entertainment and big foods are at the centre of this pubbing pleasure with a stage set for comedy and fun..

"Islington" came to be applied as the name for the parish covering these villages and was the name chosen for the Metropolitan Borough of Islington on its formation in 1899. On the merger with Finsbury to form the modern borough, this name came to be applied to the whole borough.
