A Victorian awning is the perfect partner to the facade of this famous old London pub, The Newman Arms in Fitzrovia. With its striking Eagle logo faithfully reproduced on the face of the awning through use of our bespoke RAGS® branding process this pub, now under Trueman ownership, retains all the atmosphere of old. Famously used as a basis for the location of the "proles" meeting place in George Orwell's novel Nineteen Eighty-Four. Our Victorian awning is constructed, as always, using the finest seasoned, harvested, hardwoods and is painted with an environmentally friendly water based paint. The timber work has been coloured to match the building and all metalwork is powder coated in accurate Victorian style black.
The Newman has 12 keg and 4 cask lines, featuring ourselves and a variety of rotating guest beers. We know that nothing beats pairing great food with great beer.
The building has an unofficial blue plaque in honour of the former landlord: "Joe Jenkins, ex-proprietor, poet, bon viveur and Old Git, regularly swore at everybody on these premises. pedestrians who habitually walk along staring down at their telephones will miss the painting on a third floor window of a "lady of the night" - testimony to a previous use to which the pub was put.
