Victorian awnings with junctions.

We welcome bespoke projects at Morco, especially those which present us with challenges not previously experienced. In this case, the installation of three traditional Victorian awning at a new build home in London which has been constructed in the style of a Medieval castle.

These awnings require a flat fixing in order to function correctly and this unique building with its elaborate cornices, pilasters and other assorted decoration presented no such fixing surface.

In a team operation, between our surveyor, our digital design programmers and skilled workshop engineers, a set of complex brackets were fabricated and powder coated to provide a perfectly level substrate to which the awnings were fitted.

A further complication was the customer requirement that the awnings should cover a large area without a break and this was achieved by the means of sprung loaded junction covers which are pulled down and fixed to the timber front laths with a simple hooked fixing.

The end result is a unique swathe of red fabric contrasting with the castle elements linked to the theme by the use of castellated valances, trimmed to simulate the castle battlements.
