These two Classic Rib® Wedge canopies have been installed recently at the famous Ronnie Scott's venue in Frith Street Soho. The Classic Rib® Wedge canopies give the impression of a small folding awning but are fixed in position and act as both cover and a three dimensional sign. This is especially the case when they have been branded, through the application of our RAGS® branding process. The in house construction method used by us on this type of canopy is made entirely of aluminium extrusion and formed component parts without the need for plastic fittings. The use of these reinforced aluminium extrusions means that our Rib® Wedge canopies can be made to fit in small areas, or on longer shopfronts, as on this site, but with no fear of unsightly deflection.
Ronnie Scotts club opened on 30 October 1959 in a basement at 39 Gerrard Street in London's Soho district. It was set up and managed by musicians Ronnie Scott and Pete King. In 1965 it moved to a larger venue nearby at 47 Frith Street, which is where it is located today. The original venue continued in operation as the "Old Place" until the lease ran out in 1967, and was used for performances by the up-and-coming generation of musicians.
Frith Street was laid out in the late seventeenth century and was reputedly named after Richard Frith, a London based builder. In later centuries it became the place to be for many artistic and literary people who came to live in Soho settled in this street.
