Rib® Entrance Canopy: Sotheby's

4 Oct 2019

This new RIB® Bullnose style entrance canopy which we have created for Sotheby's will be re-installed every time Sotheby's holds a special event. The RIB® Entrance canopy  is free standing and can therefore be swiftly installed, to welcome visitors, and removed equally quickly by our expert engineers. After the event the canopy can be stored away until the next time and there will be  no damage to this historic, listed, building. This type of entrance canopy  serves to both draw attention to a venue and to shelter visitors. Our RIB® method of construction is extremely robust , using no plastic parts, and the aluminium frame provides a durable solution for areas that, by their very nature, are susceptible to the hazards of inclement weather.

Sotheby's is a British-founded American multinational corporation headquartered in New York City. One of the world's largest brokers of fine and decorative art, jewellery, properties, and collectibles. Sotheby's predecessor, Baker and Leigh, was founded in London in 1744, After Baker's death in 1778, his estate was divided between Leigh and John Sotheby. Sotheby's shares a rivalry with Christie's for the position of the world's preeminent fine art auctioneer.

The southern section is Old Bond Street and the longer northern section New Bond Street—a distinction not generally made in everyday usage. The street was built on fields surrounding Clarendon House on Piccadilly, which were developed by Sir Thomas Bond. It was built up in the 1720s, and by the end of the 18th century was a popular place for the upper-class residents of Mayfair to socialise.
