Greenwich awnings for Princi, Shaftsbury Avenue

19 Apr 2019

After a first commission of three Greenwich Awnings which we installed nearby at the Wardour Street branch, the client has returned  to us for a repeat installation at their new establishment in Shaftesbury Avenue. Again we have created special branding, using our RAGS®  graphic application process, to print the dramatic Princi design onto the face of the awning and around the front profile. The appearance of the Greenwich awning has been dramatically enhanced by this striking design and the outlet could hardly be mistaken for any other bakery than that of Princi's. The Greenwich awning used here is particularly robust it being supported  and stabilised by decorative, steel side arms.

Princi's is renowned for its pastries and coffee, and now there is also  a tempting Italian restaurant inside. Princi is a counter-service Milanese bakery also popular for its pizzeria which has modern, minimalist styling. The staff at Princi are all of Italian descent so it feels very authentic. There is no formal menu so you are expected to just stand anywhere at the counter, when a server will serve provide  a meal that you choose from those  in front of you.

Shaftesbury Avenue was built between 1877 and 1886 by the architect George Vulliamy and the engineer Sir Joseph Bazalgette to provide a north-south traffic artery through the crowded districts of St. Giles and Soho. It was also part of a slum clearance measure, to push impoverished workers out of the city centre. A far from the thriving and busy Shaftesbury Avenue today with it theatres, shops restaurants and street performers.
