Fixed Marlesbury canopies at The Fruit Garden

12 Mar 2018

Canopies and awnings do not always have shade and solar control as their primary function. These attractive  fixed Marlesbury canopies  at The Fruit Garden in Melcombe Street NW1 present themselves as a sharp, three dimensional sign. The  uncluttered design of the fixed Marlesbury presents a robust canopy face which is suitable for the vagaries of London weather. The framework of the canopy is concealed between fabric panels with outer trim and arms in a grey powder coated steel finish. This version of the Marlesbury  is  non-retracting and requires little or no maintenance. The Fruit Garden  text appearing on the canopy was produced in Morco's own graphics department on our unique RAGS system of graphics transfer.

The Fruit Garden is a Specialist Foods and Health Shop, supplying  fresh fruit and vegetables plus international delicacies. A local store with a wide range of food where you can buy  get many items you would otherwise miss in many  of the usual  chains. They have at least  10 types of milk (hazelnut, coconut, almond etc.), pulses, a whole range of teas and different types of pastas. Well worth the visit next time you are in the area.

Melcombe Street is on the original Portman Estate and so named after the Somerset village of the same name.  The Portman Estate was founded in  the 16th century, when Sir William Portman, Lord Chief Justice to King Henry VIII, he of the six wives, leased 270 acres of the Manor of Lileston, hence Lisson Grove. He purchased the freehold in 1554 but most of the land remained farmland and meadow until the mid-18th century and later, when there was a building boom, after the end of the European conflict known as the  Seven Years' War in 1763.
