It continues to amaze us how popular the traditional Victorian awning is in maintaining its presence on the High Street of the UK. At Morco we continue to manufacture these popular awnings in much the same way they have been for nigh on two centuries. Our home grown craftsmen pay close attention to the traditional nature of the product though, where appropriate, either for longevity or for environmental reasons we will incorporate modern componentry. These five Victorian awnings, which we have installed at Locanda Locatelli, one of the finest Michelin Starred Restaurants in London, are an excellent example of howr the timeless look of these awnings enhances this attractive Seymour Street location. The plain burgundy fabric reflects the understated appearance and a simple graphic showing the restaurant named is all that adorns the awning valances. Applied, as is always the case, by the use of our bespoke RAGS® graphic application process.
Giorgio Locatelli is widely accepted as one of the finest Italian chefs in the UK and, quite possibly, the world. He has established Locanda Locatelli as a place noted as much for its intimacy and family atmosphere as the quality of its food. Giorgio won his Michelin star on home ground in 1999, an honour he has retained every year since. In October 2016, Giorgio was awarded the Commendatore OMRI by Italian Ambassador Terracciano for services to Italian gastronomy, the equivalent of a British knighthood.
Jane Austen wrote a short epistolary novel, Lady Susan, and when one reads the book, one is struck by the number of letters Lady Susan writes to an address on Upper Seymour Street. This is where her friend Mrs. Johnson (Alicia) lives.
