Dutch canopies can be an ideal solution where delicate showroom items are required to be protected from the sun but where pavement widths or other restrictions prevent the installation of large projection awnings. These Dutch canopies at Ede & Ravenscroft in Cambridge, are constructed using Morco's own RIB system of manufacture, providing a robust solution giving shade to the delicate fabrics within the shop display. They also act as a prominent promotional feature on the corner setting. The bold client text was applied using the Morco RAGS system of graphics application which presents a clean outline with a sharpness which is not possible using traditional sign writing by hand.
Ede & Ravenscroft is thought to be the oldest firm of tailors in the world. Established In 1689, the quality of their work won them the honour of creating the robes for the coronation of Their Majesties William and Mary. Soon they became a recognised supplier to the royal family, going on to produce a large number or ceremonial robes for the coronation of His Majesty King George III. Today the firm continues to service royalty, the judiciary, civic authorities, academia and business. Though the focus of their business is in London there are two other branches at the academic centres of the country including this branch in Cambridge.
Cambridge is a leading university city and the county town of Cambridgeshire, situated on the River Cam about 50 miles north of London. Cambridge became an important trading centre during the Roman and Viking ages and the archaeological evidence found in the area suggests a settlement existed as early as the Bronze Age. The town charters were first granted in the 12th century and modern city status was eventually officially conferred in 1951.
