This pair of Morco Classic awnings, shown here on Caffe Caldesi in Marylebone Lane, London, are a particularly good example of how, at Morco, we can integrate fabrics into framework through the facilities provided by our in house powder coating facility. The blue of the awning fabric in this example is matched perfectly with the high impact deep blue of the awning framework itself. Not too many years ago all modern aluminium awning frames were either white or brown. Now, however, virtually any colour from your RAL or BS chart is possible.
Caffe Caldesi opened in 2002 as an informal bar and restaurant showcasing Italy’s regional cooking and great wines. Caffe Caldesi brings little-known Italian recipes to London. A bright and breezy dining room is offset by relaxed al fresco dining out on the cobbled pavement under the attractive blue awnings.
Marylebone Lane has history in the original medieval village of Tyburn, which stood at the south end of the lane near Oxford Street where Stratford Place is now. The lane followed the course of the River Tyburn, which once ran south alongside it before crossing Oxford Street. The lane still has a narrow and winding character that is founded on the trace of the river. Today the river Tyburn, with its name forever associated with the notorious Tyburn Tree gallows, flows underground and is unlikely ever to be seen again.
