This remarkable Franco-American RIB umbrella canopy is one of our more interesting projects; designed and manufactured under the auspices of our bespoke awnings and canopies department. With a concept first applied using our bespoke CAD design programme the canopy has been constructed in the RIB® system comprising an all aluminium framework in which we use no plastics based materials which could weaken the structure and of, course, would be environmentally less sensitive. The extruded aluminium frame provides strength with lightness to achieve maximum resistance to wind and weather. The back side of the canopy has been finished with a panel of the same construction method which has ensured an integrated appearance to this distinguished hotel entrance.
The NoMad hotel London takes residence inside the historic, grade II-listed building previously known as The Bow Street Magistrates’ Court and Police Station. The transformation of the storied 19th century building draws inspiration from its history and location in Covent Garden, as well as exploring the artistic and cultural connection between London and New York.
As any aficionado of old detective stories will know Bow Street has a strong connection with the law; the Bow Street Runners, an early voluntary police force, was established here by Henry Fielding in 1750, and the Metropolitan Police Service operated a station house from 1832, which led to the construction of the Bow Street Magistrates' Court.
