Traditional awning on Oyster cart

Victorian awnings for Chiltern Firehouse Oyster cart

8 May 2018

Nuno Mendes has just set up a new oyster and champagne cart in the front courtyard of the Chiltern Firehouse and these specially made Victorian awnings have been installed by us on to the Oyster cart giving the position in the garden a rustic feel in what is, after all, a fabulously luxurious location. A particular feature of these Victorian awnings, with their traditional orange stripes, has been the front profile, produced by our workshop to provide an authentic 19th century look. Even our logo, affixed to the front of the awning, has been reproduced to complete the theme.

The awning covered  cart serves three types of oyster a day, two British and one French. Maldon and West Mersea Rock oysters from Essex are often on the menu as well as Loch Ryan, Fal and Belon Natives. The available oysters will be ever-changing due to availability and quality in order to maintain the very high standards of the hotel

The Chiltern Fire house hotel and restaurant is a former fire station dating from the 1880s, this refined, high-end hotel is surrounded by bars, restaurants and shopping in the fashionable Marylebone district.
