Victorian awnings at Scalini of Chelsea

20 Mar 2018

Decidedly English Victorian awnings  at this decidedly  Italian restaurant, Scalini of Chelsea.  These awnings were created using  a pale fresh yellow fabric set off against the blue of the hardwood awning boxes and craftsman made iron work.  Complimenting the Victorian awnings is a cheeky eyelid canopy highlighting the entrance to this popular venue. The Graphics on both the awnings and on the canopy faithfully replicate the Scalini style and are applied using our renowned RAGS system of graphic application, ensuring sharp text lines and faithful reproduction..

Scalini is One of the oldest traditional fine dining Italian Restaurants left in London.  With its roots in the fashionable area of Chelsea, there is an air of ambient charm as both staff and clientele create a warm and stylish atmosphere  to the day’s dining experience. Since 1988 Scalini has been serving excellent Italian food as simply as possible, in the most traditional, unpretentious and honest way. An enduringly popular venue for the special occasion, or when you just want to experience a little bit of Italy right here in London.

The original word "Chelsea" (also formerly Chelceth, Chelchith, or Chelsey, originates from the Old English term for "landing place [on the river] for chalk or limestone" (Cealc-hyð: chalk-wharf, in Anglo-Saxon).  Today of course Chelsea stands for something completely different. It went through the swinging sixties, through the Sloane  Ranger  '80s until today it is the focus of up market retailers, fine dining, very expensive homes and a Football Team that generally does quite well. A vibrant part of London where the film buff will spot many famous sets here and in the close by areas of Camden Town and Notting Hill.
