Special Victorian style Marlesbury awning at Donostia

6 Dec 2017

This Traditional Marlesbury awning at  Donostia  Basque Restaurant in Seymour Place, Marylebone, is especially interesting as, unusually, we have dispensed with the traditional Victorian blind box and left the roller and end brackets exposed in a stark, yet striking, style neatly recessed into the shop front. The simple, clean lines of the covered front profile and bold grey and white block stripe compliment the classic Basque cuisine served at Donostia.

Tapas is a feature of this restaurant , and there is no better place for it in London than Donostia. Try the fabulous crispy fried cod cheeks with squid ink aioli and octopus in traditional Basque marinade, then follow it up with a delicate house-made elderflower sorbet.

Donostia,  which is Basque for  San Sebastián,  is a coastal city and municipality located in the Basque Autonomous Community, Spain. It lies on the coast of the Bay of Biscay, 20 km from the French border. The capital city of Gipuzkoa, the municipality's population is 186,095 as of 2015, with its metropolitan area reaching 436,500 in 2010. Locals call themselves donostiarra (singular), both in Spanish and Basque.
